Third Street, a one-way, multi-lane road through the heart of Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood, is going to be shut down over I-94. There’s not a definite timeline from the Michigan Department of Transportation on when the bridge will be repaired.

According to MDOT, during a recent inspection of the overpass, they found structural deterioration in the bridge supports, requiring all traffic to be prohibited from using the overpass.

All southbound traffic will be directed to nearby Second Avenue to cross over I-94.

The closure of the overpass does not impact any travel lanes on I-94.
