Heads up, Detroit drivers: A stretch of the Lodge Freeway will be closed for a few days next month so crews can demolish the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard bridge.
The freeway will be shut down from 9 p.m. June 9 through 5 a.m. June 12 in each direction between I-75 and Warren Avenue.
A new, longer bridge will be built to accommodate the widening of the southbound M-10 exit to Grand River Avenue, part of a $13.5 million project that includes several other improvements.
During demolition, northbound M-10 will be detoured via northbound I-75 and westbound M-8. The southbound lanes of the freeway will be detoured using westbound I-94, eastbound I-96 and northbound I-75.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be detoured via Grand River Avenue, the I-75 service drive and Woodward Avenue.
