LINWOOD, MI — The South Linwood Beach has reopened after closing for two days due to high bacteria levels.
The Bay County Health Department, which manages the beach, said the results of water samples collected at the beach on Wednesday, June 21 met the state’s single event water quality standard for total body recreational activities.
Michigan’s standard is 300 colonies of E. coli per 100 milliliters of water. Samples from Monday, June 19 yielded results of 770.4 and 579.4 colonies. Thursday’s results produced 6.3 colonies.
South Linwood Beach is located at South Linwood Beach Township Park. The beach was the first to close in Bay County in 2017, as it closed four days starting June 2.
