City officials are asking the public to avoid a stretch of Kalamazoo River after a sewage release.

The stretch of river under the “no contact advisory” is located between the Kings Highway and Mills Street bridges, Kalamazoo city officials said.

The release of sewage into a storm sewer remains ongoing, with crews working to fix the broken sewer pipe responsible, the city said.

Public service workers found the release into the storm sewer at the corner of Cameron and East Stockbridge around 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.
