The Bay County Health Department issued a closure for South Linwood Beach on Saginaw Bay after collecting water surface samples that exceeded the state’s standard.
The results of surface water samples collected from South Linwood Beach on Monday, June 10 have exceeded the State of Michigan’s water quality standard for full body contact recreational activities, according to a press release from the Bay County Health Department.
Michigan’s standard is 300 colonies of E. coli per 100 milliliters of water, according to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
The closure for South Linwood Beach, located at South Linwood Beach Township Park, 135 S. Linwood Road, will be lifted when bacteriological levels comply with the State of Michigan’s water quality standards.
