Michigan highways were ranked 31st in performance and cost-effectiveness, according to the Reason Foundation’s 22nd Annual Highway Report.

The study rated various state highways on various categories. Among them, Michigan highways scored:

• 18th in fatality rate

• 31st in deficient bridges

• 40th in rural interstate pavement condition

• 41st in urban interstate pavement condition

• 35th in urbanized area congestion
