Livingston County Road Commission officials and staff are preparing for a growing list of approved and potential road projects as a public hearing on the 2017 budget nears.

The public hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 22 in the road commission boardroom, 3535 Grand Oaks Drive, Howell.

“This is a list that will grow,” Director of Operations Steve Wasylk said at a Tuesday morning board meeting.

Road crews will fix up the intersection of Pinckney Road/D-19 and Coon Lake Road in Marion Township with fresh asphalt on top and paved shoulders from 700 feet south of Triangle Lake Road to about 750 feet north of Coon Lake Road. Federal funds will cover $679,000 of the fix, estimated $979,122 fix, with the road commission covering about $300,122 for design, construction and other expenses.

The reconstruction of Brighton Road in Genoa Township will continue. Next year, road workers will put down new pavement and complete other improvements between Bauer Road and the Brighton city limits. Of the estimated $757,900 worth of roadwork, $532,025 will be covered by federal dollars.

Asphalt work on Burkhart Road between M-59 and the CSX railroad tracks just past the Tanger Outlets shopping mall in Howell Township will cost an estimated $466,400, with a federal economic development grant covering $268,825.
