Detroit is once again dealing with flash floods after an intense rainfall Thursday.
Infrastructure issues are a big part of why the area has experienced serious flooding multiple times in the past two years, most notably after a 2014 flood that caused damage across the metro Detroit area.
Storm sewer systems and freeways get overwhelmed when there’s a lot of rain in a short amount of time, according to Matt Chynoweth with the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Chynoweth says the department is looking for ways to prevent future floods, particularly on the freeways in metro Detroit.
