A $73.9 million investment into rural Michigan infrastructure is expected to benefit southern and central Michigan communities.
Among the list of communities benefitting from the investment made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State is both the City of Albion and the City of Parchment.
The total investment is a combination of a $66,892,000 loan and a $171,000 grant.
“We are continuing to build rural Michigan back better with this historic level of infrastructure investment,” said U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Brandon Fewins. “From providing clean water and protecting the environment to enhancing public safety, USDA Rural Development is always ready to build new partnerships with our communities.”
The city of Albion is expected to receive $16,854,000 Water and Waste Disposal Loan to improve their wastewater collection and treatment system. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development sad the goal is to improve operational reliability and system efficiency within the city.
The city of Parchment in Kalamazoo County is expected to receive $2,571,000 Water and Waste Disposal loan and a $1,179,000 grant to also improve the cities wastewater collection system with spot repairs, lift station improvements and pipe line replacements.
