Ann Arbor officials acknowledge the city’s streets are in rough shape and they say they want to change that, but it could take several years of catching up.
“It took time for our roads to get this bad, and it will take time to make them better,” Mayor Christopher Taylor wrote in an email to constituents this past week.
Hundreds of street segments in the city had a failing pavement condition rating last year, meaning they achieved the lowest possible score on a scale from 1 to 10, according to records obtained by The Ann Arbor News under the Freedom of Information Act.
The records showed 266 failed segments on roughly 175 different city streets with a score of 1 out of 10.
