There could be more relief coming to Michigan drivers affected by potholes. State legislators are working to pass three bills that would make state and local governments more accountable for the roads.
This year we’ve all had our share of Michigan potholes, whether it’s swerving to avoid one or spending hours in an auto repair shop to get tire replacements, but new legislation could make it easier to get reimbursed for your damages.
State Representative Darrin Camilleri teamed up with several Michigan legislators to propose a series of bills hoping to help drivers get more money for claims they file against the state for damages caused by the roads.
“The bill would increase the claims amount from $1000 to $5000 as well as lower the amount of time that the people who are in charge of the roads have to actually do something about the pothole,” says Rep. Camilleri.
