BENZIE/LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — Swim advisories have been issued for two northern Michigan beaches after reports of high E.coli levels.
According the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department, no contact above the waist is being advised at Northport Marina and Beulah Beach Crystal Lake. The test results came back as a level two on Thursday for E.coli which means E.coli levels did meet MDEQ standards for wading, fishing and boating.
The health department says E.coli levels are more apt to increase after storms.
We will pass along updates once these areas are back down to normal E.coli levels.
