KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A portion of a Kalamazoo road is back open tonight after sewage overflows onto the street.

It happened shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, on Mount Olivet Road, at Spring Valley Park.

Nearly 300 gallons of sewage leaked out of a manhole.

The Department of Public Services had the area blocked off for roughly an hour while clean up was underway.

In addition, North Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo was also shut down for hours after nearly 70 gallons of wastewater sludge spilled out of a transport vehicle.
