The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to make some big changes to M-139 near Berrien Springs. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa tells WSJM News they’re going to put M-139 between Lemon Creek Road and Red Bud Trail on what he calls a “road diet.”
“By road diet, we mean we’re going from four through lanes to two through lanes,” Schirripa said. “Instead of being lanes with the turn lane, it’ll be three lanes with the turn lane.”
Schirripa tells us reducing the number of lanes would solve several traffic problems. There is a public open house regarding the project planned for later this month. It will be Monday, June 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oronoko Township Hall.
