FLINT TWP, MI — A vehicle snagged on a power line led to the closure of southbound and northbound Interstate 75 Sunday afternoon and left hundreds of people without power.

The incident took place around 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18 and traffic on northbound and southbound I-75 at Bristol Road came to a standstill as police blocked off the area and Consumers Energy responded to the scene.

Roger Morgenstern, a Consumers Energy spokesman, said a crew had to de-energize the line and cut it by hand. The interstate was reopened a little over one hour after the initial call.

Approximately 1,000 feet of power line will have to be reinstalled.
