ANN ARBOR, MI – A blockage in a sanitary sewer pipe on Sunday, May 7, led to an estimated overflow of 100 gallons near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Pinetree Street, according to the city of Ann Arbor.

The overflow occurred at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday due to a blockage in an 8-inch sanitary sewer pipe, the city said.

“This overflow entered into a storm drain, flowing through the Allen Drain/Creek, ultimately discharging into the Huron River, just downstream of Argo Pond,” a release from the city stated.

Ann Arbor Public Works staff immediately worked to remove the blockage of the sewer pipe upon notification of the situation.

City officials contacted the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to report the incident, as is customary.
