GENSEEE COUNTY, MI — A lane of traffic is scheduled to close Tuesday, Nov. 21 at an intersection on the borders of Davison and Richfield townships to allow for pavement repairs needed after installation of a portion of the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will perform the work from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 21 on M-15 at Potter Road to temporarily address pavement settling that took place following the water main installation.

Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright previously said a sinkhole approximately 10 feet long, five feet wide, and three feet deep opened in the area after workers laid down a 42-inch pipe near the intersection.

“They were boring under there and created a sinkhole in the road,” said Wright. “As part of that process, the road settled a couple feet.”

Larry Doyle, manager of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Davison Transportation Center, previously said the affected area was filled in with flowable fill, a liquid-type substance that hardens like concrete, to secure the roadway.
