The Michigan Department of Transportation recently announced several construction project updates affecting U.S. Highway 31 in Holland Township.

Work will soon be complete on the structural steel painting at the U.S. Highway 31 bridge over the Macatawa River. There will be signs of activity throughout the next 1-2 weeks as all equipment is removed from below the bridge. Motorists can expect the southbound closure of the weave/merge lane between the southbound Lakewood Boulevard on-ramp and the southbound exit ramp to Chicago Drive to be in place through the end of next week while the cleanup takes place.

Structural steel painting will begin June 19 on the U.S. Highway 31 bridge over Interstate 196 BL and the median lane of eastbound and westbound I-196 BL will be closed under US-31. The closures should last about a week and will then be switched to outside lane closures.
