ADRIAN — Downtown Adrian can take a breather from road work.

The city of Adrian was expected to team up with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to mill and resurface Winter, Main and Maumee streets in the coming months.

Now that work is on hold until spring.

City administrator Shane Horn said after the summer-long roundabout project and some of the delays that came with that the city approached MDOT with a request to see if the grant given to Adrian for the downtown streets could be held until spring rather than be used before winter.

He said MDOT agreed. The total costs of the work are at $576,312.47 with the grant covering $331,000 and the city’s share at $245,312.47.

Todd Harder, owner of Red Paint Printing, asked Horn about the work at the Oct. 4 Adrian Downtown Development Authority meeting, which Horn answered by saying the work would be delayed.
