Canton officials are surprised after a list of Wayne County road projects for this construction season failed to include a deteriorating stretch of Warren Road, between Canton Center and Beck.

Officials say the anticipated repairs have been delayed until next year, though county officials confirmed several other Canton roads are on the fix-it list.

“I’m surprised that it looks like it’s going to be delayed,” Canton Township Supervisor Pat Williams said. “The longer they take, the more effort and cost it’s going to take to fix it.”

Local officials had anticipated the project would be completed this construction season until the county this month revealed its newest road-repair list.

Kaye Byrd, Wayne County spokeswoman, said the Warren Road project was delayed until next construction season “to provide more time to design the storm water drainage system.”

Williams said road repairs, when delayed, only become more costly.
