YPSILANTI, MI – A section of eastbound Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti is closed for at least three days while crews repair failed storm water line that’s created a 20-foot-long cavity below the road pavement.

The Michigan Department of Transportation reports eastbound U.S. 12 between Huron and River streets in downtown Ypsilanti will remain closed through 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 15.

Two, 24-inch diameter storm water lines failed on Michigan Avenue just east of Huron, creating a void that’s 20-feet long, 14-feet wide and 8-feet deep beneath the left lane, according to MDOT.

Drivers can take North Huron Street to East Cross Street to River Street to get around the closure.
