HILLSDALE — Michigan Department of Transportation representatives from the Jackson Transportation Service Center and University Region Office met with Hillsdale County representatives Wednesday morning during the 2018 Hillsdale County Traffic Summit.

Discussion centered on road funding, projects completed in 2017 and those planned for 2018 and 2019.

Jason Pittman, P.E., operations engineer with the Jackson Transportation Service Center outlined the major road repairs for 2018, which will include work to US-12 from Quincy to US-127. The 10.5 mile stretch between Quincy and Jonesville will be milled and resurfaced beginning next spring. The work includes new sidewalk ramps in the Village of Allen.

Pittman said the last time that section of road was resurfaced was in 2006.

The remaining 16.8 miles of US-12 from Concord Road to US-127 will receive a paver placed surface seal. The two projects have a cost of $6.5 million.
